I can't believe it's been over 2 weeks of trying to learn the egg. To be honest, I don't get to play egg all that much. I just play when I'm waiting during loading screens of games of League of Legends. Whenever I find that I have actual time to play something, I find that I rather play guitar. So in defense of my egg progress, I have been playing a lot of guitar lately. Trying to find something to do for my next cover.
So I guess the poll is closed. I had originally wanted to play egg with my left hand but I guess I'll have to use my right hand. I find my left hand very uncoordinated anyways so it's a good thing I'm playing with my right. So far I can get a good sounding rhythm with my right hand for about a bar or two.. but then I lose it and I'm just shaking the egg like I don't respect myself. Haha.
Maybe when I set up to record, I'll also record the two different eggs and post the audio on youtube.
Joe Learns the Egg
Take a journey with me as I try to become a great egg player. I'm not sure what my goal is yet, but maybe someday I can egg with the best of them. So far I've been advised to shake it like it's hot and shake it like I have no respect for myself. All I need is a microwave... the latter is easy (refer to this blog).

Day 4
I have eggs! Now this blog is finally gaining some legitimacy. Congratulations blog. I swung by Long & McQuade to pick up a couple eggs today after work... and to my surprise, the cashier didn't know how to ring them up. Actually, I'm not that surprised. I bought two eggs because there were white ones and there were green ones. One is a Long & McQuade model. It's slightly smaller and it seems as though there are less things inside but they are bigger. The other one is a Jim Dunlop and it's slightly bigger and seems to have smaller "things" inside. They sound fairly different. (Actually, when I first shook one at the store, I was like, "That's what an egg sounds like huh? Oh yeah, I guess that's what they sound like.)
Here's a sexy pic.

Stay tuned for some audio recordings. Lol. I don't know how much longer I'm gonna keep this up. I'm excited though. I think my recordings could benefit from egg. Oh yeah, 5 more days to vote on if I should be left-egged or right-egged.

Day 3
This blog is getting pretty lame. I still don't have an egg yet. Was gonna go after work but it was raining and I wasn't feeling too hot. I need a nap.
I've been asked if I plan to document my journey with video updates and such. I haven't thought that all the way through yet. I wouldn't want to record egg solos (or would I?) and put them online. But if I play egg along with popular songs, would I run into copyright issues? I don't know and the Man is scary. Don't want to upset him over an egg.
For those who were wondering what hand I'll be using to egg... I decided left. But there's still time to vote so don't be discouraged if you wanted me to use my right. Peace out.

Day 2
Still do not have an egg yet. I'm thinking of picking a couple up tomorrow. I did some youtube research last night and I came across this video.
Maybe I can just beatbox egg instead. Nah... I don't want to spit in my mic.
So I think I need to have 2 eggs. It seems in all the other videos on youtube that I saw, they used 2 eggs. I'm not exactly sure why yet but I think it gives a fuller sound.
So here are some questions that I have about the egg:
1. Do I need more than one egg? Is that only for the pros?
2. If I'm right handed, what hand do I use to play the egg(s)? And what if one day I want to tambourine and egg? I should probably learn egg in the hand that won't be using the tambourine.
3. What is the skill ceiling for the egg? How much better is the world's best egg player than just a decent egg player?
So that's my update for today.

Day 1
So for some reason today (as I was listening to music), I decided that I need to learn to play the egg. This blog will chronicle my journey in becoming the best egg player in the world (or at least a competent egg player). First thing I need to do is get an egg. I might have time later this week to go pick one up... but for now, I'll practice with a balled up sock. It's not the same, but it's a start. I'm not made of money and I had to buy shampoo today.
